Emotron AFE Series-Regenerative and Low Harmonic Drive

Low Harmonic Drives Regenerative Drives (55 – 600 kW, 380 – 690 V)
The Emotron Active Front End (AFE) units are available as two main parts. One part is a robust Low Harmonic Drive VFXL/FDUL. Second type is a supply-friendly Regenerative AC drive VFXR. Regenerative unit can also be supplied as DC-bus feeder unit AFR.All Emotron AFE units are like other Emotron VFX/FDU frequency converters designed from standard modules. They are using the same type of user interface and range of optional equipment.
  • Main setup
    The main parts of the Emotron AFE units are: IGBT based supply side rectifier, LCL-type line filter and an IGBT based motor inverter. Comes complete in IP54 cabinets with circuit breaker, contactor, charging circuit and EMC filter.By using internal voltage boosting the drives will be able to maintain full motor power even during supply voltage dips.There are also possibilities for reactive power compensation (Q-control) with the Emotron AFE units.
  • Network friendly
    The Emotron AFE units produces a very low harmonic content to supply side. Typical THDI for both the Low Harmonic drives and Regenerative drives are 3-5 %. Thereby fulfilling standard IEEE-519. Compare this to standard diode frontend drives with THDI of 30 –40 %.This gives savings when selecting supply equipment like transformers and cables.The Regenerative drivesVFXR provides a very robust, yet fast and smooth control to allow power flow in both directions to and from supply line. This gives substantial energy savings for applications with need for braking. Drives are rated for 4-quadrant duty with 100% power in both directions.
